Privacy Policy

Short version: we collect almost nothing and sell nothing.

Last updated: June 2026

Summary: The MidiPrompter app runs locally on your Mac and doesn't track you or send your songs anywhere. This website collects only what's needed to email you, take a payment, and deliver your license. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, we don't run analytics, and we never sell or share your personal information.

The App

The MidiPrompter application runs entirely on your local Mac. Songs, setlists, scroll cues, and lighting configurations are stored in files on your computer and are never transmitted to us. The app does not create online accounts and does not track your usage. License verification happens locally on your device and works offline.

Information This Website Collects

We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it:

  • Email address — when you submit the notify or feedback form, or email us directly, so we can respond or notify you.
  • Purchase information — when you buy a license, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive your email address and confirmation of payment; we never see or store your full card details (Stripe handles those).
  • License delivery — your email address is used to send your license key.

We do not collect any of this passively — only what you actively submit.

Service Providers

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate the site, and they process data only on our behalf:

  • Netlify — website hosting and form handling. Netlify may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of normal hosting.
  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs your payment data.
  • Resend — sends your license-key email.

Cookies & Tracking

This website uses only strictly necessary cookies required for basic functionality. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising cookies, or any cross-site tracking technology. We load fonts from Google Fonts to display the site, which does not set tracking cookies. See our Cookie Notice below.

We Don't Sell or Share Your Data

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The only parties who receive your information are the service providers above, who use it solely to provide their service to us.

Your Privacy Rights (California & Others)

Depending on where you live (including under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA), you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you.
  • Access a copy of that information.
  • Delete your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing — though we do not sell or share your information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at midiprompter@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights, and we honor browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) where applicable.

Network Features

When you use multi-device mode, the app creates a local WebSocket server on your Mac. Other devices on the same local network can connect. This traffic never leaves your local network and is not transmitted to us.

Open Fixture Library

When you download the fixture library, the app connects to GitHub (github.com) to download fixture data. This is a one-time download; GitHub's privacy policy applies to that connection. No personal information is sent.

Data Retention

We keep form submissions and purchase records only as long as needed to provide support, fulfill licenses, and meet legal or accounting obligations. You can request deletion at any time via the contact email above.

Children's Privacy

MidiPrompter is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

How We Use Cookies

A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser. This website keeps cookie use to the minimum needed to function:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for core site features such as secure checkout (handled by Stripe) and basic page functionality. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site, and under California and EU rules they don't require consent.

We do not use:

  • Analytics or performance cookies
  • Advertising or targeting cookies
  • Cross-site tracking or social-media pixels

Because we don't use tracking or advertising cookies, there's nothing to opt out of for advertising purposes. You can also clear or block cookies anytime in your browser settings.
